About the roleWe are seeking a Teaching Fellow to join our dynamic education team at the Department of Biostatistics and Health Informatics, King’s College London. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery and development of high-quality, accessible statistical education within a vibrant academic environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in teaching statistical methods across MSc programmes, with a primary focus on the MSc in Applied Statistical Modelling and Health Informatics.The postholder will design, deliver, and evaluate postgraduate statistical teaching, ensuring the curriculum remains current, innovative, and aligned with advancements in pedagogy and technology. Teaching will include a mix of online and on-campus activities, such as lectures, workshops, tutorials, and practical sessions, all aimed at equipping students with a robust understanding of applied statistical methods. Clear and effective communication of complex statistical concepts is essential, particularly to MSc students specialising in psychology, psychiatry, and health informatics.The role also offers the opportunity to contribute to module leadership and curriculum development, shaping the future of statistical education within the department. Additional responsibilities include supporting student research projects, participating in assessment, and providing pastoral care to create a supportive and enriching learning environment.
This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) on an indefinite contract, ideal for an individual passionate about teaching and eager to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes, embrace innovative teaching methods, and contribute to the advancement of statistical education in a world-class academic setting.About youTo be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:Essential criteria

  • A Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Psychology, or a related subject with a strong emphasis on quantitative methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and teach core subject knowledge effectively.
  • Proficiency in statistical software, including syntax-based software such as R, Python, or Stata.
  • Experience in developing and delivering high-quality teaching in Statistics or related subjects in higher education.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of proficiency in general computer software and digital tools relevant to teaching and learning.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to provide pastoral support and foster a positive learning environment.
  • Evidence of a commitment to maintaining and enhancing knowledge in teaching and subject expertise.
  • Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
  • A demonstrable commitment to and understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion principles.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience with online teaching platforms such as Moodle or similar virtual learning environments.
  • Experience in developing engaging and accessible online learning resources, including multimedia content or interactive tools.
  • Experience or interest in pedagogical research, particularly in the context of higher education or statistical education.
  • Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or equivalent teaching qualification, or a commitment to working towards this.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring students, particularly in research projects or applied settings.

£44,105 to £51,485 per annum, including London Weighting Allowance
