Teaching Fellow in Psychology (Fixed term, 0.8 FTE)

About the role

The School of Psychology and Social Work is seeking to appoint two talented Teaching Fellows in Psychology to join our team from March 2023. The successful applicants will contribute expertise in BPS-related core topics in Psychology to our undergraduate and foundation year programmes.  The role includes teaching, assessment, and providing study support for students including acting as a personal supervisor and the supervision of final year dissertation projects. Both posts have the potential to be extended to full-time, permanent, subject to ability and requirements.

About you (requirements)

You will hold a PhD (or be close to submitting your thesis) in any area of Psychology, along with recent experience of teaching in Higher Education. In addition, you will have knowledge and expertise applicable to core areas of Psychology across all undergraduate levels. You will also be expected to contribute to outreach activities such as open days, school liaison and public events, building links with external organisations and the community. You will also be involved in quality assurance processes and will enjoy full access to staff development opportunities offered by the University.

The School of Psychology and Social Work is part of the Faculty of Health Sciences. Psychology is the largest subject area in the school and comprises more than 500 students and 30 staff. Our staff are a diverse, international group of academics and practitioners engaged in multidisciplinary teaching and innovative basic and applied research. They contribute to three core research groups centered on Cognition & Development, Cognitive & Clinical Neuroscience, and Mental Health & Wellbeing. Psychology is part of the ESRC (White Rose) and EPSRC (AURA) doctoral training partnerships and within the University we have strong collaborative links with the Institute for Clinical and Applied Health Research (ICAHR), the Centre for Human Factors, and the Energy & Environment Institute. In addition, in partnership with the University of York, Hull offers the only integrated Clinical Psychology doctoral training programme in the UK.
