The Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy in Cambridge is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our friendly professional service team to provide administrative support for our Undergraduate programme.The post holder will be involved in all aspects of administration for the programme, from prospective student enquiries to final examinations, supporting undergraduate students and teaching staff, as well as day-to-day running of the course and managing appropriate systems for delivery of courses. You will work closely with the Director of Undergraduate Teaching, the Associate Teaching Professor, and the wider course team. You will be the first point of contact for a wide range of people including applicants, students, and academic staff. You will have responsibility for tasks such as managing the updating of student handbooks, timetabling, exam and assignment processes, and the Department’s long-running undergraduate summer internship programme, CaMPUS, as well as administering the HR casual worker process for demonstrators in the Department.You will be well-organised, able to prioritise effectively and work to tight deadlines, have a good level of competence in standard software packages, and have strong attention to detail. You will be able to work independently on your own initiative but also contribute as a team member and be able to build positive working relationships with your colleagues in the Teaching Office team, Department and University. Training will be provided in the use of university systems.Candidates must be educated to at least degree level /Level 6 vocational qualification or equivalent level of practical experience. Previous experience of working in Higher Education would be desirable.This is a full-time position working 36.5 hours per week.
