Job Purpose

We are currently looking for a Team Leader to join the Adam Smith Business School during a period of significant growth and investment within the school. This  role will support the subject Programmes Manager in delivering the operational priorities of Learning and Teaching Operations, with key responsibility for line management, professional development, and design of school policy, Quality, Assurance of Learning (AoL) and Accreditation and Ranking measures. They will play a key role in contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1.  Provide high-quality and wide-ranging administrative support to the Programmes Manager, including support for complex planning and scheduling of key activities, detailed knowledge of governance and ability to interpret and provide guidance on university and school policy.

2.  Provide line management support to a team of programmes administrators and programmes assistants to enable effective management of workload, performance and development review and support staff well-being.

3.  Act as an escalation point for Programmes Assistants and Administrators, resolving issues without the need for further escalation.

4.  Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement through identification and facilitation of training opportunities across Learning and Teaching operations.

5.  Responsible for identifying and making recommendations on improvements to enhance the efficiency of the service provision; contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

6.  Provide high-level administrative support for subject based Quality Enhancement activities, programme reviews, AoL, and accreditation and ranking activities, providing expert guidance and advice on QEA and Accreditation requirements and standards.

7.  In partnership with key academic and professional services colleagues, develop, design and implement School policies and procedures ensuring compliance with university regulations.

8.  Management of student records systems, ensuring accuracy and integrity of data, and the application of University, College and School policies and procedures.

9.  Manage procedural aspects of the student experience including handbooks, Moodle (VLE), student representation and Staff Student Liaison Committees.

10. Interrogate, manipulate and interpret complex data to create actionable insights, using the results to inform high quality decision-making across the School’s learning and teaching administrative workstream.

11. Responsible for a cross school key operational activity based on the current needs of the School and the Learning and Teaching strategy.

12. Exercise empathy, initiative, and judgement, proactively managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to create an adaptive customer experience.

13. Undertake other duties as assigned by the Programmes Manager.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential

A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this post, having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role, or:
A2 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 8 (Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4, Higher National Diploma) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.

Desirable

B1 Process Improvement or Project Management experience

B2 Knowledge of other University software packages (Moodle, Qlikview, MyCampus, CMIS.)

B3 Knowledge of Further/Higher Education policies and procedures.

Skills

Essential

C1 Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to use own initiative and exercise independent judgement under pressure in order to meet tight deadlines.

C2 Ability to positively affect/influence the performance and motivation of others

C9 Strong analytical abilities to logically assess data and apply effective evidence- based approaches to decision making and process improvements.

C10 Personal style compatible and consistent with University Values and Glasgow Professional Behavioural Framework.

Experience

Essential

E1 Relevant experience in a similar role

E2 Proven line management and supervisory skills

E3 Proven ability to develop and provide strong customer service to a range of stakeholders.

E4 Providing reliable, high-quality guidance and advice in area of expertise.

Desirable

F1 Experience of clerking committees

F2 Experience of working with students in an FE or HE environment

Terms and Conditions

Salary will be Grade 6, £31,502 – £35,308 per annum.

This post is full time (35 hours per week) and open ended.
