Technical Director, HVDCWhat you’ll doAs a specialist in HVDC you will be a key technical leader within PSC, guiding our clients through complex and innovative energy projects. Your expertise will shape the future of HVDC solutions, particularly across the UK, Europe, with reach into global markets. Additionally, you’ll collaborate closely with the regional leadership team to drive the growth and strategic direction of PSC’s HVDC services.Key ResponsibilitiesFor Clients:

  • Strategic Advisory: Advise clients on project CAPEX, technical risks, and support their engagement with supply chains, focusing on HVDC links and FACTS projects.
  • Technical Authority: Act as the technical lead for HVDC projects, ensuring excellence in project planning, costing, design, and execution.
  • End-to-End Oversight: Oversee engineering, design, installation, and commissioning activities, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards.
  • Expert Solutions: Provide cutting-edge expertise in HVDC technology, from system design and implementation to maintenance and end-of-life considerations.
  • Negotiation Support: Offer technical guidance during pre- and post-contract negotiations to help clients achieve the best outcomes.

For PSC:

  • Strategic Growth: Work with the General Manager to shape the strategic direction of PSC’s HVDC business, identifying opportunities to deliver exceptional value to our clients.
  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing clients, advising them on how PSC can support their HVDC and FACTS needs.
  • Business Development: Drive business growth by networking, developing partnerships, and identifying opportunities where PSC’s technical expertise can complement larger project teams.
  • Proposal Development: Lead the creation of compelling methodologies for proposal documents, ensuring that PSC’s technical capabilities are effectively communicated to potential clients.
  • Thought Leadership: Represent PSC as a thought leader in the industry by presenting at conferences and contributing to the global conversation on HVDC technology.

  • Electrical Engineering Expertise: A seasoned professional with significant experience in the electricity industry, particularly in HVDC projects.
  • Industry Connections: You have an extensive network within the industry and the ability to leverage those connections to create opportunities and engage with potential clients.
  • Proven Leadership: Demonstrated experience in providing technical leadership, successfully guiding HVDC projects through key milestones from early development to final takeover.
  • Project Execution: Hands-on experience in steering projects through FID, contract awards, and takeover, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong experience in negotiating with EPC contractors, with the capability to confidently support technical negotiations both before and after contract award.
  • Strategic Client Engagement: The ability to engage confidently with clients, including at board level, offering assurance that PSC can deliver solutions and resolve contract disputes effectively.
  • Technical Governance: Skilled in providing technical input and governance over specifications, ensuring that all technical aspects align with client needs and industry standards.
