Job description

As Technical Manager within the Patrick G Johnston Centre for Cancer Research, you will contribute to the development and delivery of the Centre’s strategic and operational objectives and the management of resources to ensure the highest quality research environment. You will provide high-level technical expertise and laboratory management, leading on health and safety in the Centre, including the line management of core technical staff and oversight of research technicians.About the person:The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:

  • Academic or vocational qualifications (HNC/HND or higher (e.g. NVQ , degree or equivalent standard) in a relevant scientific subject e.g. biological or biomedical subject
  • Minimum of 5 years’ recent, relevant hands-on, experience in a biomedical laboratory, to include:
  • managing a number of laboratories, including infrastructure, budgets, health and safety and COSHH.
  • ability to develop, troubleshoot and perform a range of technical duties to a very high standard.
  • recent experience in line management of technical staff.
