Apply below!About the roleWe’re looking for an experienced Technical Sales Manager to join our Ottawa team! If you’re passionate about building meaningful relationships, diving into technical challenges, and helping customers make an impact, this role is for you.As the go-to partner for researchers and organizations, you’ll connect them with RBR’s cutting-edge technology, empowering groundbreaking oceanographic discoveries. Collaborating with a skilled and diverse team, you’ll combine technical expertise with a customer-first mindset to drive growth and deliver exceptional outcomes.This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex problems, creating tailored solutions, and building partnerships that have a lasting impact. You’ll balance humility with confidence, technical know-how with approachability, and competitiveness with respect – earning trust and delivering win-win solutions that make a real-world impact.What you’ll doDrive the sales pipeline from lead generation to purchase order, ensuring smooth, effective progress at every stage.Collaborate with the Sales Director to develop and execute strategic plans that exceed sales targets in the North America Central region.Consult directly with end customers and local agents to deliver high-quality quotes, proposals, and solutions tailored to their needs.Act as a trusted advisor by meeting customers on-site, building strong relationships, and helping them succeed in their missions.Engage in respectful debates with customers and agents to guide decision-making for successful oceanographic deployments.Expand market share through diligent prospecting and fostering long-term partnerships.Work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, R&D, Operations, and Finance to deliver an outstanding customer experience.Represent the RBR brand and values at conferences, trade shows, and workshops, showcasing our innovative solutions and expertise.What you bringA degree in sciences or engineering (BSc, MSc, or PhD) or equivalent experience in high-level technical sales.Ideally, 5+ years of technical sales experience, preferably in oceanographic, marine geophysics, or related scientific instrumentation fields.Proven ability to work directly with academic institutions, government agencies, and private organizations.Experience collaborating with end customers and through local agents to deliver exceptional sales results.A customer-focused mindset paired with a sense of urgency, passion, and purpose.A talent for finding better ways—for customers and for RBR—through innovative thinking and problem-solving.Strong communication and interpersonal skills that inspire trust and foster lasting partnerships.Willingness to travel up to 25% within North America, primarily in central Canada and the United States.Nice to havesExperience in ocean technology and measurement.Degree in Oceanography or a related field.Familiarity with CRM systems; Salesforce experience is a plus.Current perks at RBR🌴 20 days of vacation, plus a company-wide holiday shutdown and paid sick days⏰ Flexible working hours & work from wherever Wednesdays (most roles eligible)🩺 Benefits from day 1 & RRSP contribution matching💰 Company-wide bonus program🏋🏽 Annual fitness reimbursement program🚴 Greener commuting incentive program (bike-to-work, carpool, or transit passes)🚗 EV reimbursement program + on-site charging stations💝 Charitable donation matching🌮 Monthly Friday lunches (on us)!At RBR, we celebrate and support diversity in our workplace.
