Technical Specialist (Scientific Project Support Teaching Technologist)

The roleAn exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Scientific Project Support Teaching Technologist to assist with lab-based projects undertaken by undergraduate, taught postgraduate and outreach students in the School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine. Working closely with academic staff, the role involves providing creative and innovative solutions to enhance student learning through hands-on experimental techniques.You will train students and staff in experimental techniques required to fulfil the project brief as determined by the Lead Academic in areas such as cancer biology, virology, bacteriology, stem cell biology and immunology; as well as supporting student data analysis and troubleshooting of experimental techniques.You will also contribute to the development and delivery of teaching activities and provide specialist technique and equipment-based knowledge for projects in the above areas.The role will be primarily responsible for preparation of all biological materials to support student projects (e.g. cultured cell lines, antibodies and bacterial samples).You will also be responsible for the lab management of the primary project space, in terms of safety documentation, consumables and equipment maintenance.What will you be doing?
