Technical Volunteer in Nigeria for Farmer 2 Farmer

Position Title: Technical Volunteers needed in Nigeria. Volunteer in Nigeria with Winrock and Make a Lasting Impact.

Location: Abuja, Nigeria with travel throughout Nigeria Through the Farmer-to-Farmer (F2F) Program, volunteers provide the opportunity to share their skills and experience with individuals, organizations, and businesses around the world. Volunteers donate their time and knowledge, and in turn, directly improve the lives of others. Volunteers have supported women and youth entrepreneurs, food and agriculture businesses, schools and training centers, and farmers – enabling them to earn more income, feed their communities, and gain new jobs. As part of the Farmer-to-Farmer Consortium, this assignment is made possible through USAID funding. In accordance to USAID guidelines, any candidates submitted for consideration under this project must have be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident. F2F assignments are driven by the needs of the host organizations the program serves. In-country representatives work with local organizations and partners to identify challenges that cannot be overcome with the knowledge and skills at hand. Together, they develop scopes of work that define volunteer assignments. Winrock’s recruiters use these scopes of work to identify volunteers through an extensive electronic database and volunteer network. Winrock staff coordinate all travel and logistical arrangements for the volunteers and help acquaint travelers with the culture of host countries. Position Summary Winrock International is currently looking for a volunteer for a long-term assignment in Nigeria. The assignment will be up to 3 months and will start in May 2023. The volunteer will support Farmer 2 2 Farmer (F2F) West Africa project in conducting final impact monitoring assessments (working with home office and field staff to document outcomes and impacts by analyzing existing project documents and collecting and synthesizing data in the field), communications, and administrative/operational support activities. The volunteer will be part of the F2F team, supporting day-to-day project tasks and reporting to the Country Director.

The volunteer should have the following qualifications and background: University degree in agriculture, natural sciences, international development, international affairs, sociology, anthropology, public policy, or another related field. Experience in data collection and analysis, including experience in both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, preferred. International experience living abroad, preferably in West Africa. Communication skills mostly with illiterate adults (women, men) and youth will be an asset. Ability to integrate smoothly into a cross-cultural team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English The volunteer experience: Volunteers donate their time and effort independently or as part of a team of experts. Winrock staff coordinate travel and logistical arrangements for volunteers and help acquaint them with the culture and the in-country team. F2F also covers round-trip airfare, incidental expenses, and per diem for our volunteers. Once volunteers reach their destinations, transportation and interpreting services are arranged by local Winrock staff members who serve as contacts during the assignment. Volunteers then work directly with organizations and businesses to exchange ideas, solve problems, and create lasting solutions. Many volunteers develop long-term relationships with the organizations they serve and return on follow-up assignments to refine solutions and provide further technical assistance
