Department and Research groupApplications are invited for a full-time technician to provide technical and scientific support to the research group of . A successful candidate will support group’s efforts in studies into anti-tumour immune responses in brain metastases, with the aim to identify strategies that can potentiate the efficacy of immunotherapy in the brain. Dr. Lorger’s research group is located at the University of Leeds and at the University of York. This project will be based at the York Biomedical Institute, Department of Biology at the University of York.RoleYou will provide experimental and technical support for a project funded by the Medical Research Council UK, aimed at understanding how dendritic cells contribute to the control of tumour growth in brain metastases. The project will integrate findings from molecular profiling, functional ex vivo assays, in vivo studies in preclinical models of brain metastases, followed by validation of findings in human brain metastases tissue. You are expected to have a significant relevant experience with in vivo models and laboratory experience, along with effective interpersonal, organizational, communication, and team working skills. You will work closely with the postdoctoral research associate working on the same project. In addition to performing experimental work, you will maintain laboratory inventories and supplies of key items.Funding is available for up to 30 months.Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

  • HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent experience
  • Home office personal licence specifying rodents (or equivalent if not from the UK)
  • Knowledge and ability to perform laboratory experiments and experiments using in vivo models
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations & procedures, for example COSHH and risk assessment
  • Ability to occasionally work flexible hours to accommodate the requirements of the project
  • Relevant theoretical knowledge in immunology and/or cancer biology is desirable
