We have an opportunity for a full time Laboratory Technician, to provide a period of maternity cover. The successful individual will form part of the technical team at the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition, based in the Institute of Medical Sciences which is situated on the University’s Medical School campus at Foresterhill, one of the largest health campuses in Europe.  The IMS stands alongside the Rowett Institute, bringing together researchers from a wide range of disciplines including molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, nutrition, and health.

The duties will include the training and supervision of new students and staff by enforcing Good Laboratory Practice and Health and Safety standards to ensure research objectives are met, conducting experimental research with the ability to develop, amend protocols and to troubleshoot when issues arise, recording and analysing data generated, supporting research staff with project work and managing the general running of the lab.

You should have a good understanding of IT systems and excellent communication skills (both written and oral), be highly motivated and able to work within a team.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 5,  £30,619 – £34,314 per annum and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
