Technician: Creative Technology

Norwich University of the Arts

At Norwich we champion transdisciplinary making and creating using traditional, digital and new emerging technologies. To support this we provide a range of high-quality workshops and technical resources where students can explore material and digital thinking to succeed in their creative ambitions.

We are looking for an experienced creative technologist, to help establish and operate our new Creative Technology Lab. This new resource opens in September 2023 and will support technologies such as VR, AR, physical computing, projection mapping, lidar scanning, and soft robotics.

You will be responsible for the design and delivery of technical skills, and the development of proficiency of physical computing, creative coding, projection mapping, and relevant platforms, tools and methodologies.

The lab will include cutting-edge equipment and enable our students to develop unique forms of human-computer interaction and develop a working knowledge of the product development lifecycle.

You will help shape the integration and embedding of technical learning and teaching into our academic programmes. The successful candidate will work with students and academic staff across our academic portfolio, in particular those studying in our highly successful Computer Arts & Technology Programme.

Using your extensive knowledge and experience, you will support student learning and help them to develop a broad range of increasingly essential technical skills.

You will also be involved in a variety of research activities and knowledge exchange initiatives working with internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have experience of interaction design technologies, processes and techniques and be capable of picking up new technologies quickly.
