Position: After School Early Childhood Educator
Location: Cathy Wever Center
Hours: 20.25 hours per week
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 2:30pm to 6:00pm
Pay Rate (includes wage grants):
RECE $27.72/hr; Non RECE – $25.18/hr
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated After School Early Childhood Educator to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Program Supervisor, you will create and implement a variety of engaging activities designed to stimulate children’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. This role focuses on fostering an environment that nurtures the children’s interests and abilities.

What We’re Looking For:
Qualifications:
Minimum of 1-year experience working directly with children, or in a childcare setting with school-aged children.
Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or equivalent qualifications, such as a Child & Youth Worker, OCT – Teacher, or Recreation & Leisure diploma.
Certifications:
Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
Proof of up-to-date immunizations (TB, Tetanus, MMR)
Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations
Skills & Knowledge:
Familiarity with How Does Learning Happen? (an asset)
Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate activities
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Characteristics:
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, implement, and evaluate activities that support children’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development.
Ensure the safety and well-being of children in your care at all times.
Create and maintain an engaging, warm, and welcoming environment for children and families.
Conduct daily check-ins and documentation according to Ministry of Education requirements.
Work collaboratively with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board faculty and maintain professional relationships.
