The Faculty of Nursing at the University of New Brunswick (UNB) invites applications from qualified researchers for a full-time, tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor position that will commence on January 1, 2025. The position is situated at the Fredericton campus and involves a combination of remote and in-person classroom, clinical and laboratory teaching responsibilities in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Evidence of an active program of research should be demonstrated.
Faculty Background: Founded in 1785, UNB is one of the oldest public universities in North America which stands on the unsurrendered and unceded traditional Wolastoqey land. The Faculty of Nursing has a long-standing history offering nursing education in New Brunswick with its first undergraduate degree program being launched in 1958 and graduate degree program in 1995. The Faculty of Nursing is situated on the UNB Fredericton campus, has a Moncton site, and offers a collaborative program with national and international partners. In partnership with the Horizon Health Network, we have an innovative primary health care clinic, the Fredericton Downtown Community Health Centre, which is a site for experiential learning.
Across these locations, the Faculty of Nursing offers a range of pathways toward earning Bachelor and Master of Nursing degrees that include options for individuals entering directly from high school, with university degree credits or a university degree, or with a practical nurse diploma. Undergraduate offerings include a 4-year in-person program (Fredericton), a 2-year in-person accelerated program (Moncton), and a Licensed Practical Nurse to Bachelor of Nursing (LPN-BN) pathway offered in-person and via remote delivery (Learn Where You Live). The Faculty of Nursing also offers a dual degree program with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education College of Nursing in India. Graduate program offerings include a Master of Nursing Thesis/Report or Master of Nursing Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
The Bachelor of Nursing program is accredited by the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing and is approved by the Nurses Association of New Brunswick. The Master of Nursing Advanced Nurse Practitioner program is approved by the Nurses Association of New Brunswick. Across our undergraduate and graduate programs, curriculum is based on principles of primary health care, caring, and social justice and is designed to support students in meeting core program abilities as well as entry level competencies and standards of practice.
Areas of Research Excellence: The Faculty of Nursing provides research expertise in six key areas: Health Service & Policy Research, Health in Older Adulthood, Gender and Health, Health Promotion and Population Health, Innovation in Nursing Education, and the UNB Saint John Collaboration for Evidence-Informed Healthcare: A JBI Centre of Excellence. Our researchers are catalysts for change in nursing and the healthcare system.
Role Qualifications & Expectations: The successful candidate must hold an earned PhD in nursing or a PhD/doctorate in a related field; one graduate degree must be in nursing. A completed PhD/doctorate is required. Evidence of an active program of research should align with the research areas within the faculty or demonstrate the capacity building within the faculty’s research agenda. The successful candidate will be involved with both remote and in-person teaching responsibilities in the undergraduate and graduate programs; travel may be required to support teaching and learning at other sites. Experience using various advanced technologies to support teaching and learning is an asset. A demonstrated ability to teach effectively in-person and via virtual platforms is expected. Given that all programming is delivered in English, strong proficiency in the English language (spoken and written) is required. Service within the university and the community is expected and the successful applicant will actively participate in governance and decision-making within the Faculty of Nursing.
The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain registration with the Nurses Association of New Brunswick (NANB) and be registered prior to beginning this appointment. International applications should include evidence of the NANB registration process.

The salary range for this position is defined in the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) 2022-2025 Collective Agreement section 36A.
