Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor – Cross-Appointment in Child & Family Studies and Psychology

The programs of Child and Family Studies (CHFS) and Psychology (PSYC) in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Nipissing University invite applications for a Tenure Track, Assistant Professor in Indigenous, Child and Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing. This position is located in North Bay, Ontario and will commence July 1, 2025.

The position requires a Scholar-Practitioner with research, practice, and teaching experience in the areas of Indigenous, Child, and Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing. The successful candidate will be expected to teach existing courses in CHFS and PSYC related to Children, Youth, and Families and work with the two programs to create additional courses related to Indigenous Child/Youth Mental Health, holistic ways of understanding human behaviour, and improving health/mental health outcomes and wellbeing for children and youth.

The successful candidate will have a completed PhD in Psychology, Social Work, or closely related field and evidence of research success in an area directly applicable to Indigenous, Child, and Youth Mental Health. Applications from other Social or Health Science disciplines may be considered for Scholar-Practitioners whose research, practice, and teaching experience align with the focus stated above. The successful candidate should have a record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals, community publications, policy development, as well as a demonstrated record or compelling evidence of potential for excellence in teaching and research.
