The University of Windsor’s Mechanical, Automotive, & Materials Engineering seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position commencing as early as January 1, 2025.
The University of Windsor Faculty of Engineering, with over 2000 undergraduate and over 500 graduate students, offers several thriving programs within the University with strong connections to the community and industry. The Faculty of Engineering is now housed in the world-class Ed Lumley Centre for Engineering Innovation (CEI), which offers an excellent environment for teaching and research. The successful candidate is expected to engage in teaching, research, and service. The teaching duties may be at the undergraduate or graduate level in support of departmental BASc, MASc, MEng, and PhD programs. They will develop and/or teach up to four courses per year, mainly in support of the Bachelor of Applied Science and Master of Engineering programs in Industrial Engineering. They will develop an independently funded research program that can interact with and complement the existing expertise in the faculty and provide value to local industry partners. They will supervise graduate students in support of their research activities. They will participate in various committees in the department (e.g. Curriculum, Planning), faculty, or across campus.
The successful candidate must have:
• a PhD and an undergraduate engineering degree, both in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field;
• a record of research contributions in Industrial Engineering with demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following fields:
o Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
o Data Analytics
o Optimization
• research applications in the broad areas of Manufacturing, Agriculture and Food, Healthcare, Transportation and Logistics, or Business and Finance;
• a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching in a relevant engineering topic, e.g., Operations Research, Supply Chain, Production Analysis;
• eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario or another Canadian equivalent licensing body.
Preferred qualifications:
• research management experience, e.g., record of funding success, team leadership and student supervision, industry partnerships, publications, etc;
• prior teaching experience and the ability to instruct in the use of engineering software tools, e.g., MATLAB, Python, R, Julia;
• ability to maintain an online presence using the University’s Learning Management System (Brightspace);
• experience or familiarity with the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board procedures for program accreditation.
