The School of Kinesiology and Health Sciences in the Faculty of Education and Health at Laurentian University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with specialization in Indigenous health. The preferred start date is September 1, 2024.
Candidates must have completed a PhD degree by the start date of the appointment. The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
● A Doctoral degree in Indigenous Health, Health Policy, Health Services Research, Health Studies or related field
● Demonstrated relationships with Indigenous communities, Nations, and/or organizations
● Demonstrated proficiency for research grounded in Indigenous pedagogies and research methodologies
● Demonstrated proficiency for research of Indigenous Health and Wellness
● Evidence of effective teaching at undergraduate
● Proven track record of research and publications in relevant fields
● Evidence of research and scholarship with the potential to work collaboratively with colleagues, secure funding support and build internal and external interdisciplinary or intersectoral collaborations
● Commitment to promoting an equitable, diverse, inclusive and vibrant academic and work environment.
The following will be considered assets:
● Ability to teach/supervise in French and English
● Teaching experience at the graduate level
● Graduate student supervision experience, ideally at both the Master’s and Doctoral levels
● Post-doctoral work
In addition to active engagement and participation in teaching and research, the successful candidate will be expected to make contributions through service to the School, Faculty, University, and broader community. An on-campus presence is expected.
