Together for Sustainability AISBL (TfS) is a global, procurement driven initiative dedicated to the improvement of supply chain sustainability in the chemical industry. Committed to contributing to a better world, TfS members assess, audit, and improve sustainability performance in the supply chains of the chemical industry and develop a program to tackle GHG Scope 3 emissions. There is an exciting opportunity for a new position of Project Manager GHG Scope 3 Emissions in the growing TfS team. This position offers the opportunity to make an impact towards emission reduction by collaborating with experts from globally leading companies with high ambitions on sustainability.
The Manager will drive the TfS GHG Scope 3 program in close cooperation with the experts from the TfS member companies. The TfS GHG Scope 3 program currently includes:
- Standardized methodologies for the chemical industry to quantify corporate Scope 3 – Category 1 GHG inventories and product carbon footprints (PCFs);
- TfS PCF data-sharing solution to amplify the flow of PCF data of chemical products and materials along the value chain;
- Cross-industry cooperation with external partners to increase impact.
The position will be Brussels-based and starts June 1, 2024.
Job description/tasks
- Drive implementation of the global TfS GHG Scope 3 program in cooperation with the TfS member companies, the Work Streams and regional teams of TfS;
- Manage relationship with service providers for the TfS GHG Scope 3 program including contract implementation, performance monitoring, continuous improvements;
- Manage cooperation with external partners (e.g. Catena-X, WBCSD Pact) together with the respective Work Stream and represent the TfS GHG program towards external partners and stakeholders at webinars, conferences etc.;
- Support TfS Work Stream rolling out the GHG Scope 3 program to buyers/suppliers and support cooperation cross-WS and cross regions on e.g. Supplier engagement, Trainings;
- Onboard TfS Members to the TfS GHG Scope 3 program and respective Workstream in cooperation with the TfS Workstream Chair/Co-Chairs;
- Work with TfS Workstream Chair/Co-Chairs and TfS General Manager to prepare material for TfS Meetings (Steering Committee/General Assembly) including the creation of presentations, moderation, minutes;
- Cooperate with the TfS team on ad hoc tasks as required e.g. IT projects, Annual TfS Workshop, TfS Annual Report.
Education and Experience required
- Masters degree in an area relevant for GHG Emissions management, such as Sustainability, Climate Change, Sustainable Development, Environmental Studies/Engineering/Science or alternatively Chemistry;
- Working experience with chemical industry or similar industry associations is required;
- Min 8 years work experience in Project Management on Sustainability with a focus on GHG Emissions management (either at corporate level or product level), ideally in a corporate/business setting;
- Expertise on sustainability in chemical supply chains;
- Practical experience and in-depth knowledge of GHG Scope 3 Emissions (GHG Protocol) and/or product carbon footprints (ISO Standards, WSCSD Pact, TfS PCF Guideline);
- Experience with relevant Data Platforms and IT systems for GHG emissions management;
- Track record of successful projects in GHG Emissions management/sustainability;
- Active network with relevant partners (e.g. GHG Protocol, GHG related associations, Thought leaders, Project partners);
- Fluency in English required, knowledge of Chinese or Spanish or Portuguese considered a plus;
- Confident command of MS Office required;
- Negotiation experience with partners and service providers is a plus.
