GENERAL INFORMATION

***Important Note: This internship will start as soon as the recruitment process is complete and will last for 6 months. Also, the selected interns must be able to work and reside in Thailand during the internship period.

GGGI’s internship program (also called Grow Green Program) provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The Grow Green Program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to the operations of GGGI. The Grow Green Program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of GGGI and to gain learning and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. We encourage qualified women and men, in particular nationals of developing countries, with diverse professional, academic, and cultural backgrounds to apply. 

The Grow Green Program is a project-oriented learning opportunity for students and recent graduates (within the last 12 months) to gain experience through specific assignments based on GGGI’s current operational needs. GGGI welcomes motivated, open-minded, and self-directed individuals to apply. You will be given an opportunity to work directly with outstanding and inspiring green growth professionals, participate in workshops and meetings, and contribute to analytical work as well as innovative rethinking on green growth.

 

CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

GGGI Thailand Country Program focuses on green infrastructure for waste management, green building, and green industry sectors. GGGI works on impactful green investments and builds capacity in climate finance mechanisms, including carbon pricing. In essence, GGGI Thailand Country Program 2022-2026 (GGGI Thailand Country Planning Framework (CPF) 2022-2026 — Global Green Growth Institute) is a practical Green Cities program. Circularity, resource efficiency, methane mitigation and innovation enhancements are the key drivers.

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to work with us in Thailand Country Office to provide substantive support in green investment activities: i.e.,

  • Support on the preparation of Green Climate Fund (GCF) related investment concept notes.
  • Conduct analysis on existing and potential investment opportunities.
  • Support the green investment assessment by selecting bankable project pipelines, develop the business case, investment documentation, identify and analyze project opportunities, competitive strengths and weaknesses of projects and their sponsors.
  • Assist with and conduct pre-feasibility and bankability assessments in waste management, green building, and green industry sectors with relevant stakeholders.
  • Support in designing a sound investment approach and conducting a market sounding with target investors.
  • Support financing mobilization by facilitating investment negotiation and initial financial commitments.
  • Support activities for resources mobilization from bilateral and international donors such as data collection, organizing meetings/workshops, and concept note and funding proposal development.
  • Engage with various stakeholders and government officials associated with the projects to support day-to-day activities on monitoring, external communication, coordination, etc.
  • Assist in preparation of coordination of meetings, organizing workshops/ trainings/ site visits and other day to day operational activities of the office.
  • Accompany project team when required to meetings and field visits to support and learn under the project.
  • Support in writing, editing, and designing technical reports, knowledge products, and presentations.
  • Assist in collecting data, documenting stories and providing logistic support in the field office.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to GGGI Thailand Country Program..

 

ELIGIBILITY                                   

Applicants to the GGGI’s Internship Program must, at the time of application, meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months. Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master’s degree in Finance is preferable.
  • Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to GGGI’s work.
  • Possess an excellent command of English.

 

QUALIFICATION
  • Academic or experience background in economics, business, finance, environmental science, sustainable development, or related fields.
  • Prior experience and familiarity with Thailand’s financial sector, infrastructure finance, climate finance, and financial instruments are an asset.
  • Understanding of issues and challenges in climate-related project development and ability to identify suitable risk mitigation measures.
  • Excellent research and quantitative analysis.
  • Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn various topics of sustainable development.
  • Excellent English communication skills, particularly writing and/or editing experience in one or more fields related to green growth or international topics in professional context.
  • English is the working language of GGGI. Proficiency in Thai is highly desirable and a plus.
  • Proven computer literacy in standard office software applications, standard Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) as well as willingness to learn new tools.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds and time zones.
  • The applicant should reside and be able to work in Thailand. We also encourage female applicant to apply.
