Candidates are likely to have experience of partnership working, delivering projects, and
working with external funders; they will have good interpersonal, administrative and
communication skills, and be an effective facilitator, enabling project partners to collaborate
on the delivery of a long-term vision for nature restoration.

Overview

Job Title: Project Coordinator – The Great Trossachs Forest

• Hours: 26 hours per week, but other options will be considered. (Note reduced hours will result
  in a longer contract and conversely more hours, a shorter contract length)
• Salary: £18,900 (based on £27,000 FTE)
• Contract: 2-year fixed term (based on 26 hours per week), with potential for extension,
  dependent on successful funding applications.
• Pension: Employer contribution of 7% of salary
• Annual leave: 19.5 days (based on 28 days FTE)
• Reporting to: Project Development Manager – Nature Restoration, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs
  Countryside Trust
• Location: Blended home and office-based work. Office base at the National Park Authority
  offices in Balloch with additional opportunities for hot-desking at partner offices in
  Aberfoyle, Gartocharn and Brig o’ Turk. The post-holder will be required to travel regularly
  throughout the TGTF area.
• Start date: The successful candidate would ideally be able to start in August 2024.

Background

The Great Trossachs Forest (TGTF) is a major conservation project set in the heart of Loch
Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. The project is a working partnership of: Forestry and
Land Scotland, RSPB, The Woodland Trust Scotland and Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National
Park Authority. It was awarded NNR status in 2015 and serves as an accessible exemplar of a
landscape-scale biodiversity partnership delivering multiple benefits, with enormous potential
for further nature restoration, visitor engagement, education, and carbon sequestration.

Loch Lomond and The Trossachs Countryside Trust is a registered Scottish charity. The Trust is
working to address the biodiversity and climate emergencies and enable more sustainable,
healthy, and active communities. We deliver impactful ecological change through nature conservation partnerships
and impactful physical, social and mental wellbeing through our health walk programme, Walk in the Park and supporting active travel within our communities. The Trust is hosting this role;
the post holder will benefit from close working with the TGTF partners and from being embedded
in the Trust’s Nature Restoration team.

Job purpose

Working in close partnership with Forestry and Land Scotland, RSPB, The Woodland Trust
Scotland, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Authority, local land managers, and a
range of public, private, and voluntary sector organisations, this role will involve
facilitating and supporting the project partnership, developing funding applications, and
coordinating a range of projects across The Great Trossachs Forest National Nature Reserve
(NNR) to maximise the benefits of the partnership for biodiversity, climate, and visitor
access.

Key responsibilities and tasks

• Work with partners to: develop, secure funding for, and deliver a range of nature
  restoration and access projects across The Great Trossachs Forest area; secure longer-term
  funding for The Great Trossachs Forest, to enable continuity of delivery across the
  partnership.
• Coordinate regular Steering Group and Operational Working Group meetings.
• Enable effective communication within the partnership.
• Work with project partners to identify opportunities for volunteer days.
• Ensure TGTF signage, interpretation, website and social media pages are updated and
  maintained.
• Disseminate programme outputs and outcomes via events, workshops, social media and other
  platforms.
• Attend Long Distance Routes forum meetings to represent The Great Trossachs Path.
• Provide progress reports to key stakeholders and funders as required.
• Manage an allocated project budget.

Reporting Arrangements

The post holder will sit within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs Countryside Trust’s Nature
Restoration team, reporting to the Project Development Manager. The post holder will also be
required to report to members of The Great Trossachs Forest Steering Group and other key
funders as necessary.

Skills Essential

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; good report writing skills.
  Experience in using GIS mapping software.
• Good numeracy skills, able to understand, interpret and present project budget information.
  Good knowledge of UK wildlife, including species identification and Invasive Non-native Species
  (INNS).
• Excellent organisational skills, including time and workload management.
• Excellent administrative skills.
• Good facilitation skills.
• Computer literate, confident in the use of social media platforms and the Microsoft Office
  package.

Skills Desirable

• Experience in using GIS mapping software.
• Good knowledge of UK wildlife, including species identification and Invasive Non-native Species

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience Essential

• Experience of partnership working.
• Experience of delivering and/or coordinating projects, and/or administration of a large

• Experience of working on grant funded projects.
• Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.

• A degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area.
• Experience of writing reports for Boards, funders and other key partners.
• Experience of visitor engagement.
• Experience of managing projects, including budgets.
• Experience of producing interpretation and engagement materials such as leaflets, social media

• Experience of coordinating complex projects involving a wide variety of project partners and
  funders.
• Experience of managing volunteers.
