Training & Learning Manager

Malteser International is the international humanitarian relief agency of the Sovereign Order of Malta. For over 60 years we provide relief and recovery for people during and following conflicts and disasters around the world. Christian values and humanitarian principles form the foundations of our work. In over 30 countries in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Middle East, we support people in need – regardless of their religion, origin or political convictions.

The Emergency & Quality department promotes the implementation of internal and international quality standards in humanitarian aid and development cooperation. We provide guidance on important aspects of our work and offer advice in the core sectors of our work, project cycle management and operational support. We also organize training and learning events in the form of online webinars, face-to-face trainings and regional learning fora.

To strengthen our organizational learning capacity, we are seeking a Training & Learning Manager for a limited-term position until 31.12.2026 to work alongside our existing Training & Learning Manager.

  • Identify training needs across Country Offices and departments and develop tailored training concepts
  • Coordinate learning and training activities across teams, including emergency trainings, integrity and compliance trainings
  • Monitor training participation, learning progress and responsibilities to ensure sustainable knowledge transfer
  • Define and communicate a clear “Learning Journey” for mandatory trainings and ensure consistent implementation and tracking
  • Support knowledge‑exchange formats such as International Leadership Week, learning events, and Communities of Practice, while overseeing SharePoint and intranet knowledge‑management structures
  • Develop organizational standards and training for the compliant and responsible use of AI tools

Your profile:

  • A relevant university degree (e.g., international studies, environmental sciences, engineering or a comparable field)
  • Initial professional experience in adult education, training delivery or learning management, ideally in an international or humanitarian context
  • Familiarity with humanitarian principles and international cooperation standards
  • Strong digital literacy, including experience with learning management systems and a high affinity for digital tools and media
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in multicultural teams
  • High cultural sensitivity and willingness to travel occasionally to project locations
  • Fluency in German and English (French or Spanish is an asset)

What we offer:

  • A full-time position limited until 31.12.2026 (project based), starting in March/April 2026
  • A responsible and exciting job in a committed, international working environment
  • A modern, well-equipped workplace in Cologne with flexible working hours and mobile working arrangements
  • Adequate compensation according to AVR-Caritas including Christmas and holiday pay, child allowance as well as a company pension scheme and other social benefits (including subsidy for public transport)
