The successful candidate will be responsible for the independent production of engineering design drawings for a variety of municipal roadway construction and MTO highway projects. - Working independently in conjunction with Project Management staff, develop, co-ordinate and prepare design drawings and graphics for a highway and roadway engineering projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation of engineering designs, design drawings, contract documents and engineering specifications;
- Analysis of engineering problems and design deficiencies to recommend appropriate design solutions;
- Preparation of construction cost estimates
- Assistance to project managers, engineers, and others on a variety of design teams
Qualifications
- A college diploma in Civil Engineering
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in transportation engineering design
- Eligibility for registration with OACETT is an asset
- Roadway design experience is desirable
- Working knowledge of MicroStation and InRoads/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Knowledgeable in the application of transportation engineering principles and design standards
- Excellent technical, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
- Initiative and an ability to work independently as part of a team of design professionals
- A commitment to excellence and high quality work with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office
