Tree Officer

Are you passionate about trees, woodlands, and the environment? Do you have the expertise to
provide technical advice on arboricultural matters while promoting the protection and
management of trees? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a Tree Officer to join our
team.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing specialist arboricultural advice to
colleagues, Councillors, and the public. You will play a key role in ensuring trees and
woodlands are protected and managed effectively, contributing to the landscape and helping
address climate and ecological challenges.

Key Responsibilities…

  • Provide expert advice on tree and woodland management to internal and external
    stakeholders.
  • Assess planning applications to ensure the protection and enhancement of trees and
    woodlands in new developments.
  • Manage Tree Preservation Orders, including serving, modifying, revoking, and enforcing
    them.
  • Act as a Case Officer for tree work applications and related notifications.

You will need…

  • A qualification in arboriculture or a related field, equivalent to a degree and/or relevant
    experience of five years
  • LANTRA-accredited Arboricultural Association Professional Tree Inspection training (or
    equivalent)
  • A high level of knowledge, understanding and experience of all aspects of tree and woodland
    issues, particularly those relevant to the planning system and tree management.
  • Experience of being involved in continuously improving services and developing products to
    meet customer need
