The Great Ouse Rivers Trust (GORT) is a new environmental charity dedicated to improving
and protecting the River Great Ouse. The new Trust is part of the Rivers Trust movement, a network of over 60 Rivers Trusts across the UK. We aim to protect its water quality and wildlife, as well as identifying safe areas for wild swimming, canoeing and paddle boarding, and conserving its rare chalk streams. The Great Ouse – the fifth longest river in the United Kingdom and the longest of those called Ouse – stretches 160 miles.
We are delighted to have secured initial funding to be able to offer this very exciting opportunity to be the first member of staff.
This is an exceptional opportunity for someone to join our Trust and take a pivotal role in developing and growing the organisation, to join us at the very beginning of the Great Ouse Rivers Trust journey.
We are seeking someone who is a strategic thinker with a track record of developing and
delivering projects. Success of the organisation will depend on the successful candidate
engaging with the many stakeholders in the catchment area. We are looking for someone
who can deliver our ambition to be a powerful voice for the river, its communities, river users
and wildlife and above all else we are looking for someone who is passionate about all that
GORT could achieve.
We aim to be an equal opportunity employer and are determined to ensure that no applicant
or employee receives less favourable treatment.
Being a charity we hope you will appreciate that we want to save money where possible – so
thank you, but unless we get in touch, we don’t need your help with this role quite yet.
