Trust Doctor ST3+ in Renal Medicine

Applications are invited for one posts of Trust Doctor (ST3+ Equivalent) in Renal Medicine at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.This is a fixed-term 6-month contract, with an immediate start (August 2024). HR support will be offered for the accommodation for applicants who do not already live in Cornwall. A good level of postgraduate NHS work experience would be an advantage.The main role of the post is to support the renal team in delivering inpatients care on the renal wards. A degree of flexibility will be expected, depending on clinical workload in the different clinical areas under the renal team.Applicants will be required to have experience of working within a medicine related specialty for a minimum period of 12 months.Some previous experience with untunnelled line insertions (independent / supervised) and with outpatient clinics would be an asset. You will require current ALS (or equivalent) and will also be GMC registered with a licence to practice.You will have access to study leave and the experience will be equivalent to a training post. You will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of the fixed-term posts within the Trust.Sustainability is integral to the Trust achieving the NHS Net Zero target.The post-holder must comply with all aspects of confidentiality, professional codes of conduct, the Royal Cornwall Hospitals’ Trust Staff Charter and the NHS Managers’ Code of Conduct.Main duties of the jobProvision with colleagues of a service to the Royal Cornwall Hospitals’ NHS Trust, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department.Cover for colleagues’ annual leave and other authorised absences.Any responsibility that relates to a special interest.Professional supervision of other junior medical staff.Responsibilities for carrying out teaching.Participating in medical audit, the Trust’s Clinical Governance processes and in continuing Professional Development.Involvement in research (where applicable).Where it is agreed between the parties, work on behalf of the Royal Cornwall Hospitals’ NHS Trust such as domiciliary consultations, or services provided by the Trust for other agencies, for example, the prison service (This excludes work done under direct arrangements between an individual doctor and a third party e.g. Category Two).A willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national levels.The post-holder must at all times carry out their duties with due regard to the Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
