We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Tutor to join a small SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) setting, providing face-to-face tuition to small groups and on a one-to-one basis. You will support vulnerable young children aged 7-18 with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) and complex needs, helping them achieve their academic goals and personal growth.You will contribute to the development of teaching and learning to pupils working towards a range of qualifications, including Entry Level Certificates, Functional Skills, and GCSEs.This roles involves working in multiple locations in order to reach some of the most vulnerable pupils, therefore a full driving license and business insurance is required.Due to the nature of these roles, candidates must be UK residents and reside within the local area. Please note that we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for overseas candidates.Duties

  • Foster an environment that promotes inclusivity, safety, and confidence, allowing students to express themselves and engage in their learning.
  • Deliver tailored lessons and support to students with SEMH needs, ensuring that learning activities are appropriate and accessible to each pupil.
  • Modify and adapt the curriculum to meet the specific needs of students, ensuring it remains engaging, relevant, and challenging.
  • Work with students on a one-to-one or small group basis, focusing on academic progress as well as social, emotional, and mental health development.
  • Support the emotional and social development of students, using positive behaviour management strategies and encouraging emotional regulation.
  • Regularly assess and track students’ progress, providing feedback to colleagues and parents on their academic and emotional development.

We are looking for an individual with:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable but not essential.
  • Proven experience of working in specialist education for young people with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.
  • A solid knowledge of the national curriculum, particularly in mathematics and science.
  • Extensive experience in working with young people who present challenging behaviours.
  • Some knowledge and experience of vocational educational pathways.
  • A commitment to inclusion, demonstrating conscientiousness and a passion for supporting all learners.
  • Ability to plan, evaluate, and monitor student learning and progress.
  • Skill in differentiating learning activities to promote inclusion and academic attainment.
  • Strong ability to build positive relationships with young people and all staff involved in supporting their education.
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and manage time effectively..
