TWO TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITIONS IN PSYCHOLOGY (1 ENGLISH, 1 FRENCH)

The School of Social Sciences in the Faculty of Arts at Laurentian University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for a tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with a specialization in Psychology/psychologie. The preferred start date is 1 August 2024.

Candidates must have completed a PhD degree by the start date of the appointment. Relevant teaching and research experience will be an asset. The successful candidate will have the following essential qualifications:

● A PhD in Psychology
● Area of research specialization is open but candidates should demonstrate teaching expertise in research design. Teaching will be from courses listed in the Psychology program.
● The versatility to support the master’s program in applied psychology, and our undergraduate program is critical.
● Evidence of the ability to effectively teach undergraduate courses with a commitment to pedagogical and academic excellence, promoting a safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment, and advancing Laurentian University’s bilingual and tricultural mandates.
● The candidate will teach in-person and engage actively in our culture of research and teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, contributing to the School, Faculty, University, and broader community.
● The candidate will participate in program development and oversight of hybrid and online learning, all in a collegial campus environment.
● Evidence of relevant research and scholarship and the potential to work collaboratively with colleagues and build internal and external interdisciplinary or intersectoral collaborations.
● Commitment to promoting a diverse, inclusive, and vibrant academic and work environment.
● Though the teaching for this one position is in English and one in French, the selected candidate is expected to have active knowledge of both official languages (functional bilingualism) or passive comprehension of the French or English language, respectively (receptive bilingualism).

The Psychology program is the largest program in the Faculty of Arts. It offers three and four year undergraduate degrees, and a master’s degree in Applied Psychology. We take pride in attracting excellent students and providing a supportive environment where students, staff and faculty may thrive. The successful candidate will participate actively, and on site, in the administration of the program and the supervision of students. In addition to active engagement and participation in teaching, the incumbent will be expected to make contributions through service to the School, Faculty, University, and broader community.

With bilingual and tricultural faculty, the School of Social Sciences offers programs in English and French. Apart from undergraduate programs in Criminology; Economics; Equity, Diversity and Human Rights; Gerontology; Psychology; and Sociology; the School offers a PhD in Human Studies and Interdisciplinarity.
