JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Overview: The Ukrainian Response Caseworker is responsible for providing case management to Ukrainian nationals or individuals affected by Russia’s invasion in Ukraine. It is a role requiring both expertise and comfortability working with vulnerable populations. Along with providing direct case management services, the caseworker links Ukrainian humanitarian parolees to resources in the community and acts as the primary point of coordination for referrals. The caseworker is expected to also stay connected with community partners and new resources for those in need of aid.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive, client-centered case management services including but not limited to accessing public benefits, housing, mental health services, medical care, school and ESL enrollment, referrals to community service providers, and assistance with booking appointments and scheduling transportation and interpretation.
  • Conduct intake services with clients to assess needs. Develop holistic service plans and timelines in partnership with each client. Provide individualized support through direct services, referrals, and advocacy.
  • Work with IRC staff to ensure client integration and referrals across programming.
  • Maintain case file documentation, including clear and concise case notes.
  • Maintain internal tracking systems and data collection.
  • Assist with reporting on program objectives and accomplishments.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of program requirements.
  • Identify new resources and services in the community, and work to connect clients to available resources.
  • Participate in all program meetings, staff development activities, trauma-informed care trainings, and fully engages as a member of the team.
  • Comply with all policies, procedures, and protocols of the agency.
  • Stay up to date with all U.S. immigration policy changes and developments, as well as local issues relating to immigrants.
  • Use personal and insured vehicle to travel and transport clients and materials as needed throughout the service delivery area.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Associate or BA degree with an emphasis in Social Work, Migration Studies, Public Health, Refugee Studies, Development, Immigration Law, or an equivalent field of study; or 1+ years of related professional experience; preferably with asylum-seeking families, refugees, internally displaced persons, or individuals without status.
  • Previous case management and/or victims assistance experience in a social service, non-profit setting preferred.
  • Previous multi-cultural experience and demonstrated ability to communicate well with people of varied backgrounds strongly preferred.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills with the ability to effectively summarize large amounts of information and maintain records of case progress achieved.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date physical and electronic files and detailed case notes, enter required data in a timely manner, meet all case reporting requirements within established timelines and standards.
  • Understanding of the U.S. immigration system and the rights of immigrants.
  • Comfortability collaborating with governmental agencies and community providers.
  • Fluent in English and Russian or Ukrainian, both written and verbal communication skills is required.
  • Strong computer skills required. Prior experience using data and tracking systems strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Commitment to teamwork and collaboration across all of IRC’s programs.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, active insurance policy and access to reliable transportation.

Working Environment:

  • A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities. May require weekend and/or evening work.
  • This position will work from the IRC office in Sacramento.
  • Offices hours are scheduled as Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5pm.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
