The consultant is expected to work in the ESCAP Bangkok office. Expected duration: 10 March to 10 August 2025 The outputs will be delivered in digital copy, in Word, Excel or PowerPoint as relevant. The performance will be evaluated based on: • Demonstrated expertise on topics related to the programmes • Relevance of content of deliverables • Effectiveness of communication and engagement of stakeholders • Punctuality of completion of tasks • Quality of written submissions (language, style)

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision and overall guidance of the Economic Affairs Officer of the Innovation, Enterprise, and Investment Section of the Trade, Investment and Innovation Division, the consultant will perform the following duties: Organizing project activities: – Coordinate ESCAP’s Policymakers’ Community of Practice on the Green Transition of Business, including the organization and support of meetings by its working groups and all-member meetings, as well as supporting the implementation of pilot initiatives. – Conduct background research and develop draft chapters for a knowledge product highlighting strategic programmes and initiatives from Mesoamerican countries that effectively promote the green transition of business and strengthen MSMEs and other productive units that have a focus on green business, circular economy, climate change management, and/or are based on the bioeconomy. – Organize a study tour for policymakers from ASEAN and Mesoamerican countries on policies promoting the green transition of business and/or climate-resilient, and nature-based livelihoods in rural communities. – Organize a training programme for businesses from ASEAN and Mesoamerican countries, in collaboration with a partner organisation. – Facilitate engagement and collaboration among participating policymakers. – Participate in relevant field missions. Project coordination: – Monitor project expenditure and budgets. – Ensure monitoring and evaluation of project activities, including through the design and administration of surveys, analysis of data, and the documentation of project results. – Contribute to communication and coordination with the project funder, including the preparation of slide decks, letters, and other communications. – Capture results and learnings from project activities and draft the project impact report for the funder. – Create synergies with other ESCAP projects.
Qualifications/special skills
• Master´s Degree in Economics, International relations, Environmental Studies, Business, or a related field. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree will be considered with 2 additional years of work experience. • A minimum of two years of experience in implementing activities related to private sector development, green transition, climate-related policymaking, or a related field. • Experience working in the Asia-Pacific and/or Mesoamerica regions is desirable. An understanding of regional mechanisms, such as ASEAN or Proyecto Mesoamerica is desirable. • Experience working for the United Nations, or for another international organization or development partner is an advantage.
Languages
Excellent communication skills (spoken & written) in English are required. Communication skills (spoken & written) in Spanish are desirable.
