An exciting opportunity for TWO experienced individuals to create and deliver outreach activities that will raise the aspirations of young people and have a potentially life changing impact.
The roles will have the autonomy of building and maintaining strong relationships with a key list of account schools and colleges throughout Shropshire and Staffordshire, creating tailored activity plans to suit the needs of the students within each school and college. As such, regular travel will be required to the schools and colleges you serve.
With direction from the Hub Manager and the central team at Keele University, the Uni Connect Outreach Officers will contribute to collaborative outreach activity in conjunction with partner universities, the collection of participant data and evaluation, and the management of small to medium sized budgets. Managing competing workloads and working to deadlines, the Outreach Officer will be expected to make meaningful contributions to targets set by the Hub Manager, the central team, and the Office for Students.
The roles offer a great opportunity for inventive thinkers to input, create and deliver concepts to generate new pioneering outreach events that will help challenge the barriers that young people may face in the progression to higher education.
Educated to degree level. Must have experience of working with schools and colleges as well as experience of working on widening participation and outreach projects. There is a requirement for good project management skills, as well as communication skills and the willingness to work flexibly.
These roles sit within the Higher Horizons team at Harper Adams University. Higher Horizons is part of the Uni Connect programme funded by the Office for Students. The Uni Connect programme began in 2017 to support disadvantaged young people from low participation areas to progress to higher education. Higher Horizons supports young people in years 7 to 13 to make informed choices about further and higher education by delivering workshops and campus visits focused on higher education.
The Uni Connect programme is currently running until 31st July 2024 and so this will be a fixed term post until this date, with the likelihood of extension until July 2025.
