Org. Setting and Reporting The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the Director-General of UNON is the representative of the Secretary-General in Kenya. UNON supports programme implementation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and the Resident Coordination System (RCS) globally, as well as other UN offices in Kenya, by providing administrative, security, conference and information services (www.unon.org). This position is located in the Conference Facilities Project at the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON). The Clerk of works (Electrical/Mechanical/Plumbing) reports to the Chief, Programme Management Section and to the Project Manager,UNON Conference Facilities Project, Division of Administrative Services, UNON.
Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the clerk of works (Electrical/Mechanical/Plumbing) will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
Competencies
Education An advanced university degree (Master’s or Doctorate degree, or equivalent) in electrical or mechanical or related fields is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Certification in PRINCE II or Project Management Professionals (PMP) or similar Project Management certifications is highly desirable. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.

Work Experience A minimum of (2) two years progressive work experience in Electrical/Mechanical engineering as it relates to the management of building design and construction is required. Experience as a superintendent or building supervisor in at least three building projects of 10,000 m2 in size or more is desirable. Experience as an inspector of electro/mechanical and specialty systems work is desirable. Experience in using MS Project or similar software is desirable. 1 year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required.
