BACKGROUND:
Since 1999, the IRC has developed partnerships with New York City public schools, community based organizations and local colleges and universities to support the positive development of refugee youth and their communities in New York City. The Education & Learning department provides year-round programming working directly with refugee youth, their parents and families, and their schools.
SCOPE OF WORK:
The Youth operations intern will be responsible for ensuring up to date, accurate, and organized data for educational programs for newly arrived youth including Tutoring, Leaders in Training, Community Events, Youth ESOL, and School Success Coaching. This role will be overseen by the Youth Operations Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Assist in updating and maintaining accurate records in our data systems.
• Perform data cleaning tasks to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
• Track and organize paperwork to support data management processes.
• Conduct regular audits to identify and correct data discrepancies.
• Collaborate with other team members to improve data collection and management processes.
• Outreach to families to collect required paperwork and information
• Inventory & organize supplies
• Update relevant funder databases
• Other relevant duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:REQUIREMENTS:
• Undergraduate level student/graduate in Business, Education or similar field preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations preferred
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Fluency in written and spoken English required. Second language proficiency in relevant
language highly desirable (including Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian, Haitian Creole,
French, Pashto, Fulani, Dari, Farsi, Arabic)
