Overview of position

CTG is looking to contract experienced personnel whose experience match the below TOR.

Role objectives

  • Construct & install internal & external support structure for the placement of network infrastructure / information transport systems, i.e., trunking / ducting systems, pathways systems, service holes, underground piping & verifications / administration [all mission locations].

  • Construct & install including terminations of fiber optic & copper cables & / or not limited to coaxial cable at all mission locations / buildings & terminations including verification / administration.

  • Construction & installation(s) of alternative power systems relating to ICT active devices within the destinated spaces including electrical circuit identification, verification / testing, documentations / administration & management of connection of active / passive network in consultation with the unit supervisor.

  • Monitor / management of HVAC systems within the ICT destinated spaces, fault findings both network telecommunications infrastructure & alternative power infrastructure & implement appropriate solutions in consultation with the unit supervisor.

  • Coordination with internal stakeholders (i.e., FTS units & engineering) relating to construction FTS / ICT technical rooms both telecommunications closets / equipment rooms including horizontal distributions according to minimum international standards under the guardianship of the unit supervisor.

  • Maintain constant focus on exceeding customers’ expectations & ensuring safety at work.

  • Manage time, material inventory & / or resources throughout & distribution / support to all regional / field offices within the mission & anticipate long hours of work due to operational requirements.

  • Perform other duties periodically defined by the direct supervisor & / or Chief of Section.

Project reporting

This role reports to the line manager.

Key competencies

  • High school diploma & supported by technical certificates (structural cabling) with at least four working years’ experience establishing voice & data infrastructure networks & electrical infrastructure including placement, pulling, terminating & splicing cables & United Nations (UN) / DFS experience in similar work is an advantage.

  • Trained & experienced in both single & high capacity three phase with large battery banks (especially Vertiv) UPS systems, Motorola containerized technical power systems, APC systems (repaired / service) & key knowledgeable in telecommunications grounding systems is a major advantage.

  • Knowledgeable & experienced hands on including training relating to solar hybrid systems (SMA & Schneider solar systems / gateway) with capacities (3kw to 50kw systems is a major advantage.

  • Experience in DC rectifiers installations including proficiency in software electrical installations / management & power distributions.

  • Ability to read & interpret both telecommunications network infrastructure & electrical diagrams / writing including engineering blueprints is an advantage.

  • Ability to use & manage technical electronic testing devices for both telecommunications network infrastructure & electrical infrastructure & installations is an advantage.

  • Working experience in a conflict of post conflict environment.

  • Fluency in English, both written & oral especially field report writing is required & knowledge of French is desirable.

This role has no team management responsibility.
