Overview of position |
Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental Organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. IOM in Libya assists in providing medical services to vulnerable migrants, IDPs, and vulnerable host populations, especially in detention centres and at disembarkation points and organizing community outreach services for stranded migrants. The Sudan crisis that started in mid-April 2023 has caused many Sudanese people to flee within Sudan and to neighboring countries, such as Libya. The latest DTM report (April 2024) reveals the arrival of Sudanese migrants in Alkufra, Tobruk and Ejdabia, and other areas of the country. The initial results of the evaluation carried out by IOM and other UN agencies have highlighted the urgent need for enhancing the access to health services (from primary to specialized) in those areas, where the health system is already weak and cannot meet the health service need. IOM aims to provide timely medical services to the migrants by deploying medical teams (consisting of a doctor and a nurse), specialists (for regular outreach activities and helping static facilities to offer specialized care and support to migrants) and surveillance teams in enhancing disease surveillance and response capacity of the Libyan MOH. The “Clinical Nurse” will work under the overall guidance of the Field Health Coordinator (Tripoli) and direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisors (Benghazi) and the medical officer (mobile team) complete the tasks as listed in section below. |
