Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?Corporate Client Group – Loan Syndications plays a key role in the realization of Corporate Client Group (“CCG”) objectives through the marketing, structuring, delivery and management of multi-bank debt solutions for a targeted customer base. The CCG team targets loan origination in the Canadian mid-market, including large Canadian subsidiaries of foreign multinationals, financial sponsor-owned businesses, private and small to medium cap public Canadian companies.Primary role of the Vice President is to provide structuring, marketing, and loan distribution expertise for financing requirements of borrowers in CCG (including Mid-Market Leverage and Infrastructure Finance (MMLIF)) across Canada. As a Vice President, you will take on primary responsibility for the distribution of a portfolio of accounts, as well as provide support to Directors/Managing Directors in originating new Lead Arranger/Agency opportunities. You will be a key source of market intelligence in relation to Canadian syndicated loans in the mid-market space, and be tasked with cultivating and maintaining relationships with other financial institutions. You will deliver best in class client experience and grow the RBC Agency portfolio, while adhering to regulatory requirements and risk management practices.Initiative, effective communication and strategic thinking are key attributes, along with credit analysis, research, financial modelling and marketing material preparation to enhance deal execution.What will you do?Evaluation and structuring of bank financing arrangements to meet CCG client objectives. Liaise with deal teams across the country, Agency Services, Group Risk Management and RBC Capital Markets Syndications to ensure loan commitments are distributed in line with targets.Client marketing and relationship management with key borrower stakeholders are central to the mandate. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to business development efforts and play a critical role in client management as part of broader deal teams on some of CCG’s largest relationships.Project management for specific transactions with respect to ensuring effective and timely delivery of credit solutions.Provide/prepare comparable transaction data (industry, client, and competitor) to support CCG advice on the optimal amount structure and pricing required to clear market and/or successfully distribute transactionConduct market soundings and work with clients to determine appropriate syndication/distribution strategyPrepare, as required, Confidential Information Memorandums, pitch books, client presentations, transaction teasers/marketing materials, term sheets, agent communications and invite packagesIndependently review and negotiate legal documentation with outside counsel, clients and participant banksBe a key source of market intelligence in relation to Canadian syndicated loans in the mid-market space, and be tasked with cultivating and maintaining relationships with other financial institutionsBuild RBC’s presence in the mid-market senior debt spaceWhat do you need to succeed?Must have:Minimum 5 years’ experience in corporate/commercial lending including loan syndications, leverage finance, or similar rolesSpecial consideration for previous experience in Loan SyndicationsUndergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, or FinanceStrategic thinker with knowledge of capital markets, commercial/senior lending, and credit structuringProfessional oral and written communication skills with a particular emphasis on delivering compelling presentations, public speaking and on influencing internal/external partnersAbility to perform well under pressure, meet time sensitive deadlines, prioritize work and multi-task responsibilities while working on multiple projectsStrong Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills and the ability to source market data/perform researchMust have a collaborative team-oriented mindset with proficiency in coordinating large groups of colleagues, participants and clientsDemonstrated negotiation skills and tact in having difficult conversationsWell organized and able to set priorities and devote appropriate attention to each assignmentMust maintain high standards of professional and ethical conductHigh level of attention to detail in both written and financial workNice to have:Preference given to individuals with an MBA (or Masters equivalent), CPA or CFAAbility to take initiative and function independentlyPrevious syndication experience beneficialWhat’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
