The British Embassy Abu Dhabi has two (2) vacancies for a Regional Project Manager under the FCDO Services, job grade Senior Executive Officer (SEO) on a fixed-term contract for three (3) years. 

The jobholder will deliver small to medium sized construction projects in accordance with Service Level Agreements, programme/project plans and customer requirements.

Duties and responsibilities: 

  • Manage multi-functional teams within an Estate’s Construction and maintenance programme, across multiple international borders and time-zones.
  • Schedule major work packages, establish the supply chain for the project and add to the pipeline, forecasting work to ensure adequate resource planning and the optimum use of FCDO Services resources.
  • Monitor and record financial performance within the project to stay within budget and to provide updates to the Project Board in accordance with the governance arrangements.
  • Set the project cost and resources baseline and ensure that all required data entries are complete and accurate to conduct effective analysis.
  • Deliver the Construction project requirements to time, budget and quality, working within the FCDO Services governance model and ensure all projects are delivered in line with the wider governance framework.
  • Perform internal and external stakeholder mapping, communications strategy and communications planning.
  • Identify and manage stakeholder requirements, interests and influences and manage their expectations.
  • Embed rigorous project risk and change management processes and procedures, escalating issues, where appropriate, to the Regional Portfolio Manager.
  • Manage Health and Safety for all responsible projects in accordance with CDM 2015 Regulations.
  • Commercially manage NEC3/4 Engineering and Construction contracts for numerous constructions projects around the global Estate.
  • Liaise with end-users and Project Sponsors to agree scope, budget and timeframes for multiple estate projects.

 Resources Managed 

  • Manage multi-discipline project teams including Building Surveyors, Structural Engineers, M&E Engineers, Architects and other construction disciplines.
  • Task manage Project Controls Officer for financial planning and management of projects or programme of projects, ranging in value from £5k to £500k to ensure delivery within the agreed cost forecasts.

The above list is not exhaustive, and the jobholder will be required to be flexible and take on other ad hoc tasks as required.

Eligibility: 

Applicants must be able to obtain an appropriate level of UK Security Clearance. Higher clearances can be granted only to certain nationalities. For this reason, candidates must be of British, American, Australian, Canadian, or New Zealand nationality in order to gain and maintain the level of clearance required. 

 

  • Experiences in managing construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Experience in applying project management methodologies in project design, development and implementation.
  • Specific experience in procuring and managing construction and maintenance projects through the use of NEC3/4 contracts.
  • Health and Safety knowledge and experience in construction and CDM2015 regulations.
  • Experience in the delivery of multiple, concurrent construction projects across borders (Regional or Global)
  • Knowledge of and experience in using MS Project or equivalent project planning tool.
  • Flexible, resilient under pressure, and decisive, with a proven track record of working quickly and reliably with attention to detail and with limited supervision. Strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and to take the initiative as well as being able to work well as part of a larger team to deliver results.
  • Collaborative approach to colleagues and stakeholder partnerships. Ability to initiate and maintain a wide range of working relationships.
  • A confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and good presentation and representational skills. Proven ability to engage at all levels internally and with external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and spoken. Able to express ideas and messages clearly and concisely, both orally and in written communication.
  • Strong IT skills and literacy in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).

  • Deployment of medium complexity Estates and security projects in a secure environment.
  • Health and Safety management qualification such as IOSH, NEBOSH, SMSTS etc.
  • NEC3/4 Accreditation.

Working hours and remuneration: 

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, which includes 25 days of leave per annum (calculated pro-rata). 

The salary for this role is AED 33,832 per month. 

There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. 

This role is for a full-time employment, on a fixed term contract basis for three (3) year, subject to six (6) months’ probationary period. 

The Embassy is open from Monday to Friday from 0700 to 1800 hrs.  The Employee’s normal weekly working hours are forty (40) Monday to Friday (inclusive). This is inclusive of one-hour paid rest break for each five (5) hours worked; the timing of the rest break shall be approved by the Employee’s Line Manager and in accordance with operational requirements. 

The jobholder will be required to be flexible in their approach to hours worked as these will be dictated by operational needs and will involve occasionally working out of hours (evening and/ or weekends). 

The jobholder must also be available for travel within the region and possibly further afield to the UK for business/ official purposes. The successful candidate must be able to secure visas for these countries. 

The Embassy has an active Learning and Development Committee, and the whole of Post is committed to providing the time and resources for staff to develop personally and professionally. The 70/20/10 learning and development model is applied in a flexible manner, with extensive informal and formal opportunities readily available.  

The successful candidate will be required to transfer their visa under the Embassy’s sponsorship.
