The British Embassy La Paz is seeking a Corporate Services and Events Assistant to join their team! Leading the Embassy’s external engagements through the design, planning and delivery of successful events in support of the Embassy’s objectives. The role will also provide support to the wider corporate services function at the Embassy to assist on Embassy operations.

This role sits within the Embassy’s Corporate Services team, which supports the every day running of the embassy. This role will be primarily focussed on the delivery of Embassy events (70%), but will provide wider support to the Corporate team and the Corporate Services Manager (30%).
The job holders main responsibilities will include, on events:
- The organisation of dinners and receptions for the British Ambassador, in support of his external engagement activities. The role also supports the organisation of other adhoc events and receptions on behalf of the embassy, e.g. Chevening.
- Support to organise events which help deliver the British Embassy’s core objectives, such as (but not limited to) trade and climate related events.
- Creative design of the British Embassy’s flagship events, such as the King’s Birthday Party.
- Support the management of guest lists and invites for Embassy events.
- The management of the Embassy hospitality budget and the processing of financial payments.
- Securing corporate sponsorship for our key events alongside colleagues.
You will be supported by a professional team of events staff at the Ambassador’s residence and a sizeable entertainment and catering budget.
On wider corporate support:
- Finance/accounting/administrative support to the Corporate Services Manager.
- Complete regularly a variety of internal forms for creation of suppliers, purchase orders, invoices and staff wages/contribution payments.
- Payment processing through the local bank platform.
Resources managed (staff and expenditure):
Line management of 4 Residence Staff; plus additional catering staff as needed for large events. Cash box responsibility.

Essential on arrival:
- Considerable experience in similar roles, designing and delivering events and management of event staff.
- Experience working in a professional office environment, as part of a supportive team.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organisational skills, time management and ability to prioritise effectively.

- Language: English

Desirable:
- A full driving licence and own vehicle would be useful, as there will be occasional travel. Mileage can be paid for.
- Experience in event catering or restaurant management.

Must have the legal status to live and work in Bolivia.
