The British Embassy in Chisinau is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, defence, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a Driver / Clerical Assistant to be part of the Corporate Services Team and provides reliable and courteous transportation services to customers with safety as top priority, maintains daily journey records and acts in full compliance with Embassy Transport policy.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Act as driver to the Ambassador and other embassy staff as required, including routine, official and representational duties;
- Out of hours/weekend duty and driving (on a rotational basis), including some overnight/extended trips in support of Embassy staff’s duties;
- Management of the assigned vehicle, including logs, authorised repairs, and routine servicing/maintenance;
- Support miscellaneous tasking such as purchasing and payments in cash or Corporate Credit Cards within delegated limits;
- Register vehicles with local authorities for both official and private UK Based Staff;
- Provide clerical support to the Corporate Services Section, including routine office tasks;
- Act as a back-up for Receptionist/Management Assistant.

- Independent user in English, Romanian and Russian (B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages*);
- A minimum of 3 years driving experience is required. Experience in driving Diplomatic, Military or VIP personnel would be an asset;
- A minimum of 6 months of working experience in office administration;
- Good customer service, communication and time management skills;
- Ability to multitasking and work under pressure;
- A good understanding of the role; must be flexible with working hours and be a good team worker;
- Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office package).

This is a full-time permanent contract. The Embassy’s pay and benefits package is in compliance with local labour law. The gross monthly salary for this position is MDL 19.470. The annual leave entitlement is 24 working days per calendar year and the Embassy also enjoys 14 Moldovan/UK public holidays per year.
The successful candidate will be subject to a reference check, security clearance and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of three months.
Out of hours: There is a regular requirement to work out of hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends, for which an averaged out overtime allowance will be paid.
Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) have a strong Learning and Development (L&D) culture supporting a 70:20:10 learning posture (70% on-the-job informal learning, 20% informal learning from others, 10% formal learning).
The successful Job Holder will receive an induction plan with a suite of mandatory e-learning courses and have access to job-related training, enabling the successful Job Holder to become comfortable and effective in the role as quickly as possible.
