Main purpose of job:

To provide safe and professional driving services. The post holder will be expected to transport UK Based Staff to appointments, meetings and other events across Karachi and potentially Sindh province. In addition, the driver will need to be aware of and assess local environmental conditions that may impact upon the security/safety of a journey. The post holder will be expected to inspect and prepare vehicles to a roadworthy standard include routine cleaning.

We reserve the right to review, revise or amend the roles and responsibilities from time to time reflecting the changing needs of business.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

The driver’s duties should include:

  • Daily check of tyre pressures, hydraulic fluid, oil, radiator, and battery level.
  • Preparation of vehicle to ensure cleanliness.
  • Keeping an accurate record of all journeys in Vehicle Logbooks.
  • Where appropriate facilitate the repair of faults.
  • Reporting any defects.
  • Maintain a record of Vehicle Checklist, ensuring vehicles are kept serviceable.
  • Wearing an official uniform (where appropriate).
  • Security of vehicles in their care, ensure testing of communication equipment is conducted regularly.
  • Assessments of environmental H&S factors.
  • Ability to utilise, and support others utilise, protective equipment when required.
  • Administer first aid.
  • Maintain professional skills and knowledge in respect of driving a motor vehicle in Pakistan and local road traffic legislation.
  • Additional functions as required by the role and directed by NCA staff in relation to the use and management of vehicles.

Language: English

Level of language required: The post holder will require to be competent in the use of oral and written English.

The post holder will be provided with professional development opportunities in line with the role requirements.

Working patterns:

Required to work 48 gross hours per week plus overtime as necessary. The core hours will operate between 8am – 6pm daily with flexibility required depending upon operational need. Additional evening hours will be required to meet the needs of the office.

 Any other information (or specific local Post requirements):

  • Selected candidate shall be appointed after his medical clearance by an authorised medical centre.
  • Selected candidate will have to go through the Police and FCO vetting before assuming the appointment.
  • The vacancy is open to both Female and male applicants.

Essential on arrival:

  • Minimum Higher Secondary School Certificate
  • Valid Driving Licence for Saloon Car, Pick-up Truck and SUV with upto 3 years’ experience preferred in any reputable organisation.
  • Experienced in both Automatic and Manual Transmission Vehicles
  • Detailed geographical knowledge of Karachi and Sindh.
  • Competent level of spoken and written English.

Desirable:

  • Vehicle maintenance experience.
  • Basic first aid knowledge
  • Basic computer knowledge of MS Office
  • Driving experience of an Armoured Vehicle

For BHC candidates, the Country Based Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.

For other than BHC candidates the basic salary will be ­­PKR 84,986 per month. This salary is non-negotiable.

Please note that the current salaries are being dollarized and processed in USD (using a fixed corporate exchange rate from November 2022) to provide cushion against the current external market conditions. This is a temporary measure and is subject to review at regular intervals. The payroll will revert to local currency processing once the external market conditions are normalised.
