Who we are:

The British Embassy in Kazakhstan is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic, trade, and consular interests overseas, and is now looking for an International Trade Advisor (Education Sector Lead) to cover for a maternity leave for a expected period of 12 months.

 

Why should you apply?

The International Trade Advisor is responsible for providing export and trade support to British companies exporting to and operating in Kazakhstan in the education sector. The successful candidate will also be responsible for facilitating investment partnerships between Kazakh and British Investors looking to bring British education brands to Kazakhstan.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Comprehensive work on the education sector that includes the full support of British companies, chambers and associations;

  • The organisation of inward/outward trade missions (including the budget management for trade missions, to develop programmes and logistics);
  • The search and identification of projects within the development of the education sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan and other business projects;
  • Developing and maintaining a network of key contacts in public and private sector and working together on the delivery of joint projects.
  • Development and management of the project pipeline – disseminate information in a timely way to British companies and trade colleagues in the UK about potential cooperation/tenders/projects;
  • Conducting the necessary research to contribute to the sector brief (with the help of marketing and analytics agencies);
  • Undertake the tailored market research reports;
  • to participate and speak at various events to showcase the Kazakh market’s capabilities and vice-versa to promote British expertise and technologies.

 

2. Identification and work on the removal of barriers in the education sector. Full support of British companies, lobbying interests at all levels, working closely with Market access officer, Regional Market Access Co-ordinator and relevant public bodies.

 

3. Support the Country Director and HMA in representational duties in this sector including drafting briefings and speeches. Manage allocated budgets for individual education events.

  • Fluency in English and Russian, both written and spoken (minimum of C1 CEFR framework level language*);
  • Experience in the education sector, specifically higher education in the UK or Kazakhstan.
  • Proven track record in planning and delivering large events.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience working with a diverse group of stakeholders.

  • Fluency in Kazakh, both written and spoken (minimum of C1 CEFR framework level language*);
  • Experience of broader education sector, events delivery, and working with international education institutions.
  • Business development work experience.

This is a full-time, fixed term contract of expected 12 months to cover for a maternity leave, subject to a 30 day probation period.

 

Salary will be 2,289 USD per calendar month (gross). Please note that it is the employee’s responsibility to pay individual income tax.

 

The start date mentioned in the advert is just an expected start date. The appointment can start earlier or later depending on several factors. Flexible working may be accommodated on request.

 

Employees are entitled to annual leave entitlement pro-rata based on 25 days total per calendar year. In addition, the Embassy observes up to 14 days public holidays marking different Kazakh and UK holidays.

The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a professional background check and security clearance and is expected to commence employment as soon as possible. The successful candidate must have pre-existing work authorisation for the Kazakhstan in order to apply. All applicants should have the right to live and work in Kazakhstan.
