Department for Business and Trade roles (DBT)
Department for Business and Trade (DBT)
Main purpose of job:
The Investment Analyst based in Chile will provide support to the Investment team at the Department for Business and Trade (DBT)’s LATAC network in their efforts to promote investment into the United Kingdom.
Working under the Head of Investment for Chile and the LATAC Director for Investment, you will engage with Chilean and Latin American startups, industry associations, venture capital funds, and established companies to promote awareness of the UK as a destination for FDI. The purpose of this engagement will be to strengthen the FDI pipeline and land investment wins, creating jobs, prosperity, and driving growth in both the UK and LATAC.
The role will require excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of diverse stakeholders. You will be part of a wider regional team promoting investment from across Latin America and the Caribbean. This will require you to develop good working relations with colleagues across the continent to deliver cross-regional investment promotion activities. You will also work closely with DBT colleagues in the Chilean Embassy to deliver investment objectives as part of cross-Embassy and regional strategies. Additionally, you will develop excellent relationships with DBT colleagues in the UK and with UK-based partner organizations to deliver an impactful program of activities focused on developing a robust pipeline of Chilean investors, achieving investment targets, and promoting the UK as a destination for Chilean companies.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on improving bilateral trade and investment relations between the United Kingdom and Chile through increased investment and enhancing knowledge-sharing networks and ecosystems in fast-growing sectors. You will have the opportunity to gain experience in organising investment promotion activities within Chile, and potentially the wider region and the UK. Additionally, you will gain high-level experience dealing with senior business stakeholders and large companies while developing your knowledge of the investment world and specific sectors.
The position will suit an energetic team player, motivated self-starter with a passion and genuine interest in the world of international business and trade. It will require a positive and proactive attitude that thinks in terms of unlocking opportunities for Chilean companies in the UK.
