Main purpose of job:
Be part of the Department for Business and Trade’s (DBT) mission to drive more investment between North America and the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to develop further the special relationship between the UK, Canada, and the US, supporting work at the forefront of international diplomacy to make a real difference globally. You will become part of the newly established and evolving North America Investment Hub with a real opportunity to work with stakeholders to shape how the team supports and services wider foreign direct investment work and our high value investment strategy across the North American network.
The Hub manages a newly launched digital service to provide support for US and Canadian investors interested in expanding their business into the UK, as well as providing leads and business intelligence for the network to drive delivery of foreign direct investment into the UK. You will be responsible for investor support, including engaging with investors and triaging projects via the digital service, as well as lead generation for the North American market.

Working patterns:
This role is 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday. The consulate does not have a long working hours culture. The UK in Canada Network offers an excellent benefits package. The British High Commission and its Canada Network of Consulates embraces hybrid working. Flexible working options available upon approval of line manager. The British Consulate’s current policy asks staff to work in the office 40-60% of time, with the remainder available to work from home. We are an organization that also recognises the critical value of teamwork, and we embrace and endorse collaboration by ensuring that all staff attend the office flexibly yet regularly.
