Who we are :

The British Embassy in Kyiv is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Junior Communications Officer to provide support for British Embassy communications team.

The role entails:

  • Ideating and contributing to production of digital content;
  • Managing social media channels, working closely with other team members;
  • Leading on internal communication of the Embassy, including ideation, production, and publication of content;
  • Translating communications products, including press releases, social media content, video subtitles, and other documents as required;
  • Monitoring Ukrainian media and producing regular and bespoke press summaries for the Embassy and London;
  • Managing the public inbox, including social media, by monitoring, redirecting mail and/or responding to public enquiries as necessary;
  • Managing the Embassy’s press and digital subscriptions, including periodicals and online-based tools;
  • Managing the Embassy’s media distribution list;
  • Organising publicity and promotional materials, including: handling Embassy corporate branding matters and necessary procurement contracts, ensuring transparency, value for money and alignment with the Embassy’s green policies;
  • Supporting the organisation of events, including visits, regional trips, press interviews, project events, press conferences, Chevening events or other relevant events and marketing campaigns. This may also include media engagement for visits and events, and preparing or supporting on briefing documents for the Ambassador;
  • Step in to run other Communications team members’ portfolios as required (annual leave, sickness, new priorities).

Essentials on arrival:

  • Proficiency in the languages- English and Ukrainian, C1 level and upwards based on CEFR.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar role in international, governmental or civil society organisations.
  • Strong administrational and organisational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Ukrainian.
  • IT literacy.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Proactivity, flexibility, and strong teams working skills.

This is a full-time permanent contract, for 40 working hours per week including 1 hour per day for lunch.

The start date mentioned in the advert is just an expected start date. The appointment can start earlier or later depending on several factors.

The successful candidate will benefit from:

  • Shortened work hours (British Embassy Kyiv operates from 9:00 to 17:00 with one-hour lunch break) and the culture of not working late.

  • Opportunity to manage some bilateral projects for which the person will have more direct responsibility.

      Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Kyiv is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Ukrainian employment law.

      This is an official employment, and the salary is subject to official tax; currently 19.5%.  The salary is a set rate and there are no additional allowances on top.
