Department for Business and Trade roles (DBT)

Main Purpose of Job:

The DBT Mexico team works for UK businesses and serves as a frontline response to connect companies with business leads in the country, with the core aim to help UK firms win and expand their business in the region.

The intern will report directly to the Midlands (based in Monterrey, Mexico) and Northern Powerhouse (based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) regional specialists at the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) for Latin America and Caribbean (LATAC).

This is a great opportunity to work at the British Consulate in Monterrey, Mexico at a regional capacity, assisting both regional specialists for Latin America and in the day-to-day administrative tasks whilst contributing towards the levelling-up agenda, which is a key strategic goal as part of the Regional Trade Plan.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Assisting with daily administrative tasks

2. Writing reports, preparing booklets, sending out invitations

3. Scheduling meetings, establishing and developing contacts with local and UK businesses and government

4. Assisting on preparations for events (webinars, trade shows, missions, visit programmes) and attending events as necessary

5. Managing the CRM system (DataHub) with meetings and interactions inputs

6. Performing market research

7. Translating documents and reports

Candidates must be able to live and work in Mexico in their own right. The successful candidate will be subject to a security clearance and professional reference checks. Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list’. If during the reserve period of 6-12 months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
