Main Purpose of Job:
Support the High Commissioner by researching and reporting on Papua New Guinea politics. Support the delivery of UK project activity in PNG and monitor its impact. Contribute to BHC media and public diplomacy activities, including deputising for the Political & Communications Officer as necessary.

This role is advertised as a 2-year fixed term renewable contract.
The successful candidate must have or be able to obtain Work Authorisation for Papua New Guinea and valid Police Clearance Certificate. Any offer of employment will be subject to the candidate achieving suitable clearances.
Working Pattern: Full time – 39 hours per week (Monday to Thursday: 0745 – 1615 Friday: 0745 – 1245)
Evening and weekend work will sometimes be required and time off in lieu will be granted.
The FCDO also operates an agile workforce. To facilitate this, you may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as we may reasonably require.
Learning and development opportunities (and any specific training courses to be completed):
The successful applicant will have access to a full range of online training to support them in their work, and will be expected to undertake the FCDO’s communications and project management training as soon as possible.
