The British Embassy in Pristina, Kosovo, is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a full-time Policy Delivery Officer for Kosovo-Serb issues.

In close coordination with senior Embassy staff, manage and deliver on a range of political reporting and projects that contribute to the UK’s support for Kosovo as an inclusive and multi-ethnic state, with a particular focus on the position of Kosovo-Serbs, especially in northern Kosovo.

 

The role encompasses

  • Support policy delivery by building a clear understanding of the needs of the Kosovo-Serb community through:

            a) Regular, timely political reporting on issues facing Kosovo-Serbs, particularly in the four northern municipalities;

            b) Regular engagement with Kosovo-Serb politicians and civil society;

            c) Regular engagement and reporting on issues affecting the Serbian Orthodox Church.

  • Deliver projects that support the Kosovo-Serb community, foster social cohesion and contribute to an inclusive multi-ethnic Kosovo.
  • Contribute to the British Embassy’s work to promote a working environment built on the values of respect, expertise and creativity.
  • Other duties as required by Line Manager and Embassy needs.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills using English and Serbian (Minimum C1 level as per CEFR);
  • Knowledge of Kosovo’s political situation, and proven understanding of issues affecting Kosovo-Serbs, particularly in northern Kosovo;
  • Strong analytical skills, and ability to make sense of complex information and turn this into concise and accurate reports;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills: ability to work and communicate as effectively independently as within a team;
  • Strong organisation skills and excellent attention to detail;
  • Ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders;
  • Understanding and ability to respect the confidentiality of work issues;
  • Resilience, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • University degree; preferably in politics or social sciences;
  • IT proficiency in Microsoft office programmes (Excel, Word, Power Point).

  • Previous experience of project management, including monitoring, evaluation and learning processes;
  • Previous experience working in public institutions, an international organisation, or local NGO;
  • Some working knowledge of Albanian.

This is a fixed-term, full-time contract for 5 working days per week. The contract is 1 year with a possibility of extension. The monthly gross salary for this position is € 1,849.05 (Executive Officer Grade level).

 

The probation period of this role is 6 months, unless the successful candidate has already completed a probation period with British Embassy Pristina and has a permanent contact.

 

The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance. Candidates that are not able to do so will not be able to take up post.

 

Working hours are 36 hours net per week. Standard working hours are from 08:00-16:30 from Monday to Thursday and 08:00-13:00 on Fridays. This role will require occasional out-of-hours work including evenings and weekends, which will be compensated with time off in lieu (TOIL) or occasionally overtime.

 

Employees recruited locally by the British Embassy in Pristina are subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service according to local employment law in Kosovo, as interpreted by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
