The British Embassy Riyadh has a vacancy for a Technical Works Officer, job grade Administrative Officer (AO), on a fixed-term contract of two (2) years.
The Technical Works Officer (TWO) will have overall supervision and planning responsibilities for the Technical Works Group (TWG), ensuring that the British Embassy Riyadh estate is fit-for-purpose for staff to work and live in. They will rely on a team of artisans within the Estates team to deliver a safe and compliant estate in a timely fashion. The jobholder will bring together relevant experts in construction and maintenance to ensure that there is a programme of works in place to keep the British Embassy, its offices, and Residential Estate maintained to high health and safety standards (both UK and local regulations). They will deliver high standards of customer service and be responsive to staff and customer needs and requests.
The jobholder will have financial management responsibilities as the lead payment authority for TWG, ensuring timely remittance of invoices for payment and supplier reconciliation. They will uphold internal compliance to set purchase-to-pay processes, keeping an audit trail of all purchases and payments. They will oversee stock control measures with the team. The jobholder will also have responsibility for the effective and successful contract management, on behalf of TWG, for goods and services, ensuring that value for money is achieved and is in full compliance to procurement purchase-to-pay policies.
This role will report to the Estates Manager. The Technical Works Officer will line manage the Technical Works Group (TWG) comprising of painters, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and masons.

The above list is not exhaustive, and the jobholder will be required to be flexible as specific responsibilities could change in the future, and this would be at the discretion of the line manager and Senior Management. The job description may be reviewed to meet changes in business needs. The jobholder may also take on other ad hoc tasks as and when required, including participating in the Embassy’s emergency planning and any response to a crisis.

Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, and you will be comfortable dealing with staff at all levels and be able build co-operative and productive working relationships with everyone that you meet.

Monthly salary details:
*Allowances are not payable to staff who receive official provision for such expenditure in some other form. Spouses/ Dependants of UKBS officers working at the Embassy are not eligible to Housing or Travel Allowance.
No accommodation nor relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
This position is full-time, based on 48 hours per week. Normal working hours for this role are from 08:00 to 16:00 from Saturdays to Thursdays.
The jobholder will be required to be flexible in their approach to hours worked as these will be dictated by operational needs and may involve working out of hours (evening/ weekend). Flexible working arrangements may be considered based on operational requirements and agreement with the line manager, and in line with FCDO and Embassy policies.
The successful candidate will be subject to a 90-day probationary period.
The successful candidate will be required to transfer their iqama under the Embassy’s sponsorship.
