Who we are:
The Governor’s office of the United Kingdom in Gibraltar is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas.
The mission of the Office of the Governor is to support the Governor and Commander-in-Chief in carrying out his constitutional role and duties as His Majesty’s Representative in Gibraltar. The Governor has special responsibilities for the conduct in Gibraltar of external affairs; defence; internal security and certain functions in relation to public offices. The Office of the Governor also supports dialogue between His Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar and His Majesty’s Government in the UK on a range of issues, to further develop the modern partnership between Britain and Gibraltar.
The Governor’s Office and is now looking for a Steward. The main purpose of this job is executing routine stewarding duties and providing support to the Residence Manager & Residence Team.
Your role entails:
- Assisting the Residence Manager in the day to day provision of all Convent Residence requirements, including front of house, administration and clerical duties;
- Preparation of all equipment, furniture, refreshment and rooms as required for events, both routine and occasional;
- Assisting in all programmed functions and events and giving direction to casual staff;
- Receiving and recording (as required) used/issued items for drink, food and beverages (stock control);
- Cleaning tasks in accordance with the published steward cleaning schedule;
- Assisting the Chef with product procurement, general shopping, kitchen preparations and cleaning;
- Escorting of visitor/contractors and welcoming visitors/guests.

Our ideal candidate has:
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken upwards of C1 level as per CEFR*).
- Previous experience in the hospitality industry.
- The ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.

This is a part-time position with an initial fixed term contract of 24 months of 25 (gross) working hours per week.
The successful candidate will receive a monthly salary of £1150 Gross (12 instalments).
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and a probation period of six months.
Staff recruited locally by the Office of the Governor in Gibraltar is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local employment law.
