Main purpose of job:
This is a hugely exciting role, leading on the delivery of high-profile events and campaigns for the British Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City, at a vital time for the UK-Vietnam relationship. As the UK and Vietnam celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations in 2023, the overall relationship continues to strengthen and deepen, with co-operation across an ever-greater range of areas.
This role will see you leading independently on planning and implementing events and campaigns for the British Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City. The team at the Consulate-General has grown in recent years to cover a broad trade and political portfolio. In this role you will work closely with leads across the Vietnam network’s trade, political and development teams, to develop and deliver high-impact activities that promote the UK and strengthen UK-Vietnam relations. You will build and cultivate a strong network of relevant stakeholders and event delivery partners to maximise value for money and ensure event delivery is of the highest quality. You will be an effective project manager and be confident managing a budget. You will support colleagues across the network on cross-cutting activities and events relevant to multiple sectors and business areas.

In the context of the UK-Vietnam 50 years celebrations, you will lead on creatively leveraging our events and comms delivery to maximise the impact of this significant milestone. You will secure buy in to your ideas from colleagues and management and lead project teams to ensure successful event and campaign delivery. You will ensure campaigns effectively complement the Consulate’s overall political and trade promotion objectives.
The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will need to be able to tailor messaging and event delivery to suite a broad range of contexts and audiences. You will need to be confident leading and delivering activities autonomously, seeking input and support where needed from across the network. You will need to proactively broaden your network in Ho Chi Minh City and ensure close working relationships with counterparts at the UK Embassy in Hanoi. You will need excellent time management skills, experience of project planning, and the ability to effectively manage a budget.
