Step Teachers are working closely with a wonderful school in Enfield in search of a Welfare Assistant to join the team in September 2024. The role of the Welfare Assistant is to care for sick and injured children. Holding a valid and in-date First Aid certificate is essential.This school’s main ethos is to aim high, persevere and achieve within a respectful setting. This Welfare Assistant role is a maternity cover long-term role for the academic year starting in September.Welfare Assistant Role:

  • Caring for sick and injured children. This will include being involved in personal hygiene which will also include cleaning bodily fluids.
  • Provide First Aid for all adults within the school setting as required.
  • Administer First Aid and medication in accordance with the school medical policy and as agreed with SLT and parent/carer.
  • Liaise with SENDCO on Care Plans.
  • As a Welfare Assistant you will monitor First Aid consumables stock and re-ordering when necessary.
  • To maintain a clean and organised environment (medical room) at all times.

Welfare Assistant Requirements:

  • An in-date and valid First Aid certificate
  • Previous experience in a school setting as a Welfare Assistant is desired
  • Verifiable references from previous employers or placements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for education and supporting the students.
